Motto: It’s easer here.
Lebanon Oregon is located in Linn County, northwest Oregon, strategically positioned at the junction of US Highway 20 (Santiam Highway) and Oregon Highway 34 (Tangent Street). The population of Lebanon is about 13,000, but it still manages to maintain a certain small town charm and neighborly atmosphere. A city of contrasts, there are many covered bridges in the area, but it is one of the first in the nation to boast free city-wide Wi-Fi (Wireless Internet access). Forward thinking and proactive, Lebanon has an impressive disaster preparedness program.
Lebanon is a growing community of commercial, educational and residential opportunities. As the timber industry has slowed, it has pursued new development opportunities. Currently under construction is a Lowe's Distribution Center that, when completed, will be the largest single story building in Oregon. Also in the works is a medical school, which will be built in cooperation with the hospital.
Lebanon Oregon is home to the World's Largest Strawberry Shortcake, a part of the annual Strawberry Festival that began in 1909.
Schools
Lebanon has an excellent education system including two high schools, five middle schools and three elementary schools. It has easy access to post-secondary education, as well, hosting an extension of Linn Benton Community College and being just minutes away from Oregon State University and the University of Oregon.
Recreation
Lebanon is a great place to live for those who love the outdoors. Superior golfing venues include the Mallard Creek Golf Course other courses within a short drive. Hiking, sailing, beach combing, hunting, rafting, kayaking and water skiing are enjoyed in the summer (not to mention some amazing fishing in the Santiam River!), as is snow skiing in the winter.
The thriving city of Lebanon contains real estate which is highly under-valued. In July 2010, the median home price was $109,900. There were 13 home sales; the highest priced home sold for $219,000, the lowest priced home sold for $35,000.
